Coached the Iowa State swimming & diving team for 34 years and the golf squad for 22 seasons
ISU won nine league swimming championships for McGuire, including three straight (1947-49)
The Cyclone golfers – under McGuire’s direction – won the 1947 and 1953 Big Seven titles and recorded Top 25 national finishes in 1949, 1952 and 1953
The 1949 swimmers were his best unit, winning their eighth straight league title (by a record 88 points) and setting 44 school records during the season
McGuire spent 13 years on the swimming & diving rules committee and also served a term as president of the coaches’ association
