AMES, Iowa (AP) - Tyray Pearson scored 23 points and Jake Sullivan added 20 as Iowa State ended a three-game losing streak in a 77-54 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Sunday.
Pearson, who grabbed nine rebounds, hit two inside shots after Sullivan shot a 3-pointer in a 9-0 run late in the first half. Then, Watra Banks made a basket for Maryland-Eastern Shore (4-7) with four seconds left, and Iowa State (6-6) had a 36-24 lead at the break.
Maryland-Eastern Shore's leading scorer Tee Trotter left the game with an eye injury with 1:48 remaining in the first half. Trotter, who averages 15.5 points per game, scored 13 points before being taken out. Banks added 11.
The Hawks never got closer than 12 points in the second half and trailed by as many as 24, 75-51
The Cyclones made a 12-5 run in the second half to extend its lead to 64-44 with more than six minutes left to play.
Iowa State outrebounded Maryland-Eastern Shore, 39-29. The Cyclones were 26-of-31 at the free throw line as Maryland-Eastern Shore committed 23 fouls, compared to Iowa State's 10. The Hawks were 8 of 11 at the free throw line.
