MARIETTA, Ga. ? The Iowa State softball team fell to Minnesota, 1-0, late Saturday in the team's fourth game of the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic in Marietta, Georgia. The tournament is being hosted by Georgia Tech. With the loss, Iowa State falls to 7-15 on the season. Senior Julia Lindsey led the way for Iowa State with two hits and three assists.
Minnesota jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring a run in the second inning. The Cyclones would threaten to score, but it didn't happen and the Golden Gophers would go on to win the game, 1-0. The difference in the game was the errors. Iowa State had one error while Minnesota had none. Minnesota also had five hits to Iowa State's three hits. Freshman Katie Reichling and Alyssa Ransom split time on the mound, combining for five strikeouts and three walks.
Iowa State's record in the tournament so far is 2-2. The Cyclones are scheduled to play another game in the tournament on Sunday with an opponent and a time yet to be determined.
