After two and a half innings of scoreless softball, the Cyclones took advantage of a Rebel miscue. With one out in the third inning Rodgers doubled to left center. After sophomore Ashley Killeen grounded out, Rodgers moved into scoring position by stealing third. Following a Quade walk, Rodgers came home on an errant throw by the Ole Miss shortstop trying to nab senior Misty Kimura at first. However, ISU's inning would end on a strikeout by sophomore Katie Reichling.
Ole Miss would tie the game in the top of the fourth inning and then take a 3-1 advantage by adding two more runs in the sixth inning.
