AMES, Iowa - Reigning Big 12 Player of the Year Amanda Scarborough tossed a complete game shutout and went 3-for-3 with four RBI to lead No. 15 Texas A&M to a 7-0 win over Iowa State in the second game of a Big 12 doubleheader on Saturday.
Scarborough got the Aggies (30-12, 9-3 Big 12) on the board in the first with a RBI double in the first. Scarborough later scored on a single by Jami Lobpries, putting A&M on top 2-0 after one inning.
Scarborough got the fourth inning started with her second double of the game and later came in to score on sacrifice fly by Rocky Spencer.
In the sixth it was again Scarborough who got the best of the Cyclones, blasting a towering three-run home run just moments after Jamie Hinshaw belted her fifth homer of the season.
Scarborough (14-5) stymied the Cyclones from the circle, allowing just four hits to pick up the win.
The Cyclones' Jennifer Bigbee extended her hitting streak to five games with a fifth inning single.
Amie Ford (10-9) got the loss for Iowa State, allowing seven runs on eight hits.
The Cyclones will face Big 12 foe Nebraska at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Southwest Athletic Complex.
