Reichling hit her fifth homer of the season and the 15th of her career in the sixth inning to put the run rule in effect and give the Cyclones (14-21) their second straight win. With the homer, Reichling moved into a tie for fourth all-time at ISU with Debbie Nease (1994-97) and Lindsey Herrin (2002-03).
Seven other Cyclones collected hits in the win, including Kristy Olsen and Ariel Coburn, who each stole two bases in the game. Olsen is now 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts this season. Fallon Johnson swiped the 22nd base of her career to move into sole possession of sixth place all-time at
Charissa Carlin (8-5) tossed four scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Cyclones. The Sprinfield,
The Cyclones busted open a scoreless game in the top of the second, putting six runs on the board. Coburn was hit by a pitch with one-out and came around to score on a double to center field by sophomore Katherine Cross. Bradberry then singled and stole second before Fallon Johnson grounded out to plate Cross' pinch runner Kelsey Kidwell. Bradberry scored as Olsen swiped second base, making it 3-0.
The Cyclones weren't done scoring as Olsen scored on an error by the Bears (5-21). Alex Johnson roped a single to center to score Courtney Wray before coming around to score on a double by Reichling to complete the scoring and put ISU on top 6-0.
Mercer cut into the lead with a RBI single by cleanup hitter Ashley Anderson in the fifth, but Reichling's homer in the sixth put ISU in the driver's seat.
Reichling, who relieved Carlin in the fifth, tossed a scoreless sixth inning to complete the win.
April Cunningham (2-10) got the loss for the Bears, giving up 10 hits and nine runs in six innings of work.
The Cyclones will play a pair of games Sunday as they face
