COLLEGE STATION, Texas ? Alex Johnson had two hits to tie the Iowa State freshman record for hits but the Cyclones left nine runners on base and fell to third-ranked Texas A&M, 8-0, in six innings Sunday afternoon at the Aggie Softball Complex.
The Cyclones fall to 17-24 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 play, while Texas A&M improves to 28-3 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

Four other Cyclones had hits for the Cyclones in the game, but Texas A&M pitcher Megan Gibson (11-1) kept ISU off the scoreboard. Gibson struck out seven in the win.
Charissa Carlin (8-6) got the loss in her first career Big 12 start. Carlin, a freshman from
Bailey Schroeder and Macie Morrow had two hits each and Jamie Hinshaw and Mandy Gegan drove in a pair of runs for Texas A&M.

The Aggies tacked on two more in the third on Gegan's two-out single that plated Morrow and
A&M loaded the bases in the fourth inning with no outs and the heart of its order coming up, but Alyssa Ransom relieved Carlin and struck Morrow out. The Cyclones then turned a nifty double play, getting Jamie Hinshaw to ground out and relaying to home to tag out Bailey Schroeder, to get out of the inning.
The Cyclones loaded the bases in the top of the sixth but were unable to get any runs across as Gibson struck out Katherine Cross to end the inning.
Texas A&M scored four more in the sixth inning to end the game. Hinshaw and Joy Davis had run-scoring hits off Ransom as the Aggies closed out the game in six innings.
