ISU missed a golden opportunity to respond as the first two batters reached base in the third. Katie Harms reached on a fielding error and Bianca Lopez singled up the middle to move pinch runner Anna Bortz to second with no outs.
Bortz was forced out at third on a fielder's choice and DeLong got another fielder's choice before getting Courtney Wray to ground out to third to end the threat.
The Cyclones also stranded two runners in the sixth with Courtney Wray singling and Alex Johnson walking with one out. This time it was Dordel who closed the door on the Cyclones.
Drake added runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth innings to make up the 6-0 final.
Rachel Zabriskie (12-13) took the loss for the Cyclones, allowing five runs on eight hits. Wray saw her first collegiate action in the circle, giving up a run on no hits in one inning of action.
Iowa State returns to action Saturday at Big 12 foe Texas. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
