ISU, winners of four of its last six Big 12 contests, scored its first run in the fourth inning when Carleigh Berry opened the frame with a single. Berry stole second, but was still stranded there when the next two Cyclones popped out. Amanda Bradberry then came through with a timely two-out RBI single to score Berry and give ISU and early 1-0 lead.
The Cyclones scored again in the top half of the fifth inning when Jones blasted her fifth homer of the season, a solo-shot to make it a 2-0 ISU lead. Jones added an insurance run in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Bradberry, who led off the inning with a single. Both Jones and Bradberry collected two hits in the game, accounting for four of ISU's five hits.
ISU didn't need much offense, as Zabriskie was sharp, recording her fourth shutout of the season. The sophomore from Austin, Texas scattered four hits and fanned seven Aggies to improve her season record to 16-21. Rebecca Arbino took the loss for the Aggies, falling to 9-6.
ISU, which improves to 23-26 overall and 5-10 in Big 12 play, finishes its two-game set with the Aggies tomorrow at noon.
