FORT MYERS, Fla. – No. 4 South Carolina (6-1) used a big first-half run to defeat No.15 Iowa State (5-2), 76-36, on Thanksgiving Day at the Elevance Health Fort Myers Women's Tip-Off.
South Carolina's defense clamped down on the Cyclones, holding ISU to just 23 percent field goal shooting.
How It Happened
Mackenzie Hare opened the game's scoring with a 3-pointer, but the defending champions settled in defensively and forced eight first-quarter turnovers while holding the Cyclones to just 1-for-11 shooting to lead 19-3 at the end of the opening stanza.
USC extended its run to 32-0 and led 35-9 at the half.
The Cyclones had success in the third quarter, trimming the Gamecock lead down to 17 points midway through the period, but South Carolina bounced back to lead by 26 heading to the fourth.
Top Performers
Audi Crooks finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, her 39th-straight game in double figures.
Hare also reached double figures with 12 points, connecting on three 3-pointers.
South Carolina was paced by 13 points each from Sania Feagin and Joyce Edwards.
