AMES, Iowa – For the first time in program history, Iowa State has been tabbed the preseason No. 1 men's cross country team in the USTFCCCA coaches poll. The Cyclone men finished 2024 as the NCAA runners-up and return four runners who have earned All-America status.
The Iowa State men were also selected at the FloTrack preseason No. 1 team nationally and the top USTFCCCA Midwest regional team. The Cyclone women were tabbed third in the USTFCCCA Midwest regional poll behind Oklahoma State and Minnesota and received votes in the national poll.
The Cyclone men return Robin Bera, Rodgers Kiplimo, Joash Ruto and Sanele Masondo, all having earned All-America honors heading into the 2025 season. They also bring back Devan Kipyego and Ryan Watts, two juniors who played integral roles in the run to a runner-up trophy a season ago. The ISU women will rely on three-time NCAA Championships qualifier Maelle Porcher and fellow seniors Riley Beach and Bella Heikes to lead a young squad for a chance to return to the NCAA Championships in November.
Iowa State returns to action this Friday, August 29 in Ames for the third annual Cyclone Preview. The men's 6K will start at 8:30 am with the women's 5K to follow at approximately 9 am.
