ATLANTA, Ga. - Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson has been named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team. Of the 30 players, nine of them are from the Big 12 Conference, the most of any conference in the country.
Jefferson has once again been Mr. Do-It-All for the Cyclones this year. He's averaging 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He's the only Power Conference player in the country to average those numbers. Only six players have done so in an entire season in the country going back to 1974-75, with no one in the Big 12 having accomplished it. He turned in triple-doubles against West Virginia and UCF, becoming the first player in Big 12 history to have multiple triple-doubles against league opponents in a career, while doing so in the same season.
In the last couple of weeks, Jefferson has also been named to the Wood Award Late Midseason Top 20 and the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award Top 10. In ESPN's Top 50 Midseason Players list, he was ranked the No. 3 player in the country.
