AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's basketball has been selected to face Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament First Round. The Cyclones will play in their 24th NCAA Tournament with all appearances coming under head coach Bill Fennelly.
Iowa State has now made the last seven NCAA Tournaments, tied for the 11th-longest streak in the nation.
ISU plays Syracuse (23-8, 12-6 ACC) Saturday, March 21 in Storrs, Conn. at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. Time and TV network is to be determined.
The Cyclones enter as the No. 8 seed while Syracuse is the No. 9 seed. The winner will face host and overall No. 1 seed UConn (34-0, 20-0 Big East)/No. 16 seed UTSA (18-15, 9-9 American).
Iowa State has played in 17 of the last 19 NCAA Tournaments and enter with a 22-9 record this season including going 10-8 in the Big 12.
