KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Iowa State is bringing the Magic to Hilton South, but this time in December rather than March. On Thursday, the NABC announced that Iowa State will be one of four teams participating in the 2026 Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City.
The Cyclones are slated to play Missouri State on Dec. 18. The game will be part of a doubleheader with Drake and Wichita State participating in the other game. The 2026 Hall of Fame Classic will mark the event's 26th year of operation in Kansas City, and its second time to be structured as a neutral-site doubleheader. Specific game times, ticket details and broadcast assignments will be announced soon.
Iowa State and Missouri State will be playing for the first time in program history. The home of the Big 12 Tournament, Iowa State is 20-14 all-time at the T-Mobile Center. Iowa State also played in the 2014 Hall of Fame Classic, beating Alabama 84-74 before falling to Maryland, 72-63, in the championship game.
This will be the second of two neutral site single games for the Cyclones during the 2026-27 season. Iowa State will open the season on Nov. 2 against Memphis in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Cyclones are also slated to play in the Players Era Championship in Las Vegas the week of Thanksgiving.
Iowa State finished the 2025-26 season with a 29-8 record, tied for the second-most wins in school history. The Cyclones were ranked No. 8 in the final AP Top 25 Poll, the 52nd-straight week the Cyclones have been ranked. ISU's AP Top 25 streak is the second-longest in school history and the fourth-longest active streak in the country. Playing in its 25th NCAA Tournament in program history, the Cyclones advanced to the Sweet 16 for the eighth time in program history.
The Hall of Fame Classic is operated by the Kansas City-based National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). More information on the event can be found at nabc.com/classic.
