Lawrence White IV is in his third season as a graduate assistant working with the defense at his alma mater.
In 2024, White helped the Cyclones record the greatest season in school history, finishing 11-3 overall and advancing to the program's second conference championship game. It was ISU's first time reaching double-digit victories.
The Cyclones also went bowling for the second time in as many seasons with White on staff, defeating No. 15 Miami, 42-41, in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Florida.
Defensively, Iowa State's defense allowed just 22.9 points per contest and ranked among the nation's Top 25 with 15 passes intercepted. A pair of Cyclone defensive backs, Malik Verdon and Jontez Williams earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors.
In 2023, his first season back at Iowa State, the Cyclone defense ranked among the league’s top three in scoring defense (22.8), total defense (363.2) and rushing defense (134.2). The team also ranked 10th nationally with 16 interceptions and played in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
White played defensive back for the Cyclones from 2016-20, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolades from the league’s coaches in 2019 and 2020.
In total, the Bakersfield, California, native played in 49 career games and made 31 starts. White played a key role in the Cyclones reaching four bowl games during his career, which was highlighted by ISU’s first New Year’s Six bowl appearance with a 34-17 win against Oregon in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
The 2020 Cyclones went 9-3 overall and 8-1 in Big 12 play, finishing first in the regular season standings and reaching the Big 12 Championship game for the first time in school history. White had nine tackles against Oklahoma in the game.
He finished his career with 210 tackles, eight pass breakups and three interceptions.
White earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2020.
