Xavier Quigley is in his sixth season with the Iowa State football program and first as director of college scouting/offense. He previously served two seasons as assistant director of player personnel and was a graduate assistant for the ISU offense from 2020-21.
Quigley has been a part of four bowl qualifying teams, including the 2024 Cyclone team that defeated No. 15 Miami in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
In 2024, Iowa State recorded the best season in school history, finishing 11-3 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The Cyclones had the best start to a season at 7-0 and went on to reach double-digit victories for the first time in program history. ISU also reached its second Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship game.
The Cyclone offense rushed for 27 touchdowns and finished with 52 offensive TDs, the most in a single season in program history. Wide receiver Jayden Higgins earned All-America honors and 15 players earned All-Big 12 recognition, including five on the first or second teams. Wide receiver Jaylin Noel was named Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of the Year.
The 2023 Cyclones returned to the AutoZone Liberty Bowl after recording just the third six-win conference season in program history. Iowa State's roster was one of the youngest nationally, with 21 underclassmen playing in every game and just three senior starters. The team finished with a +8 turnover margin, tied for the 18th-best margin in FBS, while the offense led the nation with 11 offensive touchdown plays going for 50-plus yards.
The 2022 team produced one of the best defenses in school and Big 12 history, becoming just the third unit in league history to lead in scoring defense (20.2), total defense (285.6), rushing defense (107.3) and passing defense (178.2).Â
In 2021, the Cyclones recorded the fourth-best scoring average (31.3) and the fifth-best total offense (424.5), respectively, in the history of the program. ISU also ranked second nationally in red zone offense, converting on 47-of-49 trips for a 95.9 pct. clip, as the Cyclones earned a berth in the Cheez-It Bowl.Â
The Cyclones produced one of the most prolific offenses in the history of Cyclone football in 2020 with the second-best scoring offense (32.9) and third-best total offense (436.3) totals in school history.Â
Iowa State’s offense was one of the most balanced nationally in 2020, as the Cyclones finished the regular season in first place in the final Big 12 standings, made the Big 12 Championship game and qualified for a New Year’s Six bowl for the first time in school history.
The Cyclones capped off the season with a 34-17 win over Oregon in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl.
A native of Ankeny, Iowa, Quigley previous worked as a graduate assistant for his alma mater, Akron, in 2019.
Quigley was a two-year letterman on the offensive line and played in 24 games, including two starts, at Akron from 2016-17. He transferred to Akron from Iowa Western Community College, earning all-conference honors in 2014 on a squad that went 11-1 and made the NJCAA national championship game.
Quigley was an all-stater at Ankeny High School, helping his team go 14-0 and win the 2012 Class 4A state title. He was teammates with former Cyclones Joel Lanning and Collin Olson.
