Emily Hatfield enters her fourth season at Iowa State in 2025-26 and second as an assistant coach. She previously served as the Cyclones' coordinator of video and recruiting operations from 2022-24.
Hatfield assists with the Cyclone back court and has seen three Iowa State guards earn All-Big 12 recognition. ISU teams have finished in the top 25 nationally for 3-point percentage in back-to-back seasons. Hatfield helped land grad transfer Hannah Belanger from the transfer portal ahead of the 2023-24 season, providing experience for a young Cyclones squad. Belanger led Iowa State in made triples in the 2023-24 season while finishing 38.9 percent (74-190) from behind the arc, a mark that ranks ninth among all-time career leaders at ISU.
In her role, Hatfield also oversees the graphic design and creative materials for the program’s recruiting operations.
Hatfield arrived in Ames after spending three seasons as Director of Basketball Operations at Tennessee Tech. In her role as Director of Operations at TTU, she was responsible for day-to-day efficiency in organizing team activities, team meals, game film preparation and social media oversight. Hatfield spent the 2018-19 season with TTU as a graduate manager.
Hatfield was a student-athlete at Western Carolina, playing 87 games and making 20 starts in her career for the Catamounts. During her time at WCU, she was also a stellar student, earning the Physical Education program’s Alice Benton Award as a senior.
She graduated from Western Carolina in May 2018 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education and received her Master’s Degree from Tennessee Tech in Sports Management in December 2020.
