Kelsey Sampson joined the Iowa State Athletics staff as a Business Office Associate in August 2017 and spent six years as Executive Assistant to Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Administration on July 1, 2024.
In her current role, she serves as the liaison between Pollard and the Big 12 Conference staff, the Iowa State President’s office, athletics staff members, donors, ISU alumni and the public. Sampson also provides administrative support and office management for the senior athletics staff, including Faculty Athletics Representative Tim Day, and Senior Associate Athletics Directors Shamaree Brown, Nick Joos, Chris Jorgenson, Ryan McGuire and Callie Sanders, as well as the ISU Athletics Council.
Before joining the Iowa State team in August 2017, Sampson earned her master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco in May 2017. She worked as a Business Office Assistant at San Jose State University (October 2016-June 2017) and as an Olympic Sports Operations & Fan Experience Associate at the University of California (August 2015-April 2016). Sampson also served as a Director and Coach of Skyhawks Sports Academy and as a Regional Sponsorship Scout for SponsorUnited in the Bay area.
A May 2013 graduate of Coe College with a degree in Biology and Secondary Education, Sampson began her professional career as an Assistant to Coe’s Director of Athletics from August 2013-May 2015. As an NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women’s grant recipient, she assisted Coe Athletics in the organization and supervision of 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics programs at her alma mater, oversaw the eligibility status of some 450 student-athletes, helped ensure Coe’s compliance with NCAA and Iowa Intercollegiate Athletics Conference rules and regulations, and assisted in game management at home athletic contests.
The Pleasant Valley, Iowa, native was a four-year basketball letterwinner at Coe, helping the Kohawks to four-consecutive winning seasons, a pair of Iowa Conference titles and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2011 and 2012, including the school’s first-ever Division III Sweet 16 appearance in 2011. She earned Iowa Conference All-Academic honors in 2010 and 2011.
Kelsey and her husband, Bryce, live in Roland with their daughters Rylee, Brynn and Rory.
