NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 5 ISU gymnasts remain undefeated after a victory against the No. 9 Sooners (196.775-195.675). Their record improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Big 12 Conference action.
In the all-around competition, Cyclone sophomores Erin Dethloff and Laura-Kay Powell took first and second place respectively (39.525, 39.475). These scores mark season highs for both gymnasts. Freshman Janet Anson grabbed fourth place with a 39.20.
Iowa State swept the vault, with Anson claiming first (9.925), Powell taking second (9.90) and Dethloff in third (9.875). Powell's score marks a season high.
Powell shared first place on beam with OU Kasie Tamayo (9.90). Dethloff, freshman Ashley Alden and junior Susan Stock placed in a five-way tie for third (9.85).
On the bars, Dethloff and Tamayo shared first-place honors (9.925). Sooner Leah Mueller took third (9.90). Cyclone senior Chee Chee Calina grabbed fourth (9.875).
In the floor competition there was a five-way tie for first place including Iowa State's Krystal Carney and Dethloff (9.875). Anson and senior Gabby Layne placed in a four-way tie for sixth.
The Cyclones will next play host to Denver, Friday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
