AMES, Iowa - Ashley Killeen hit a two-run home run and Amie Ford struck out 10 batters to lead Iowa State to its fourth straight win, a 5-1 decision over Campbell, in action at the Charleston Southern Tournament Saturday in Summerville, S.C.
Killeen struck in the third inning, with her first home run of the season, to put Iowa State (6-6) up 3-0. The drive to left center plated Fallon Johnson, who had singled earlier to score Kristy Olsen. Olson reached base on a single that led off the inning.
Campbell (14-7) got one run back in its half of the third when Megan Paul's ground out scored Lindsey Landry to cut the Cyclone lead in half.
Ford (4-3) went the distance, allowing just one run on three hits. The sophomore has struck out at least 10 in back-to-back games.
The Cyclones added a pair to seventh inning insurance runs to produce the final margin.
Killeen went 3-for-4 in the game while Johnson and Jessica Quade each collected a pair of hits for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will face the host, Charleston Southern, at 4 p.m.
