OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Courtney Totte drove in two runs and Jessica Hoppock tossed a complete game three-hitter to lift Oklahoma State past Iowa State, 2-0, at the Big 12 Championship at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.
With the loss, Iowa State ends its season with a 23-28 record overall, marking the most wins for the program since 1999. Oklahoma State goes to 20-27 and advances to play Texas in the next round of championship.
Hoppock (13-21) held Iowa State hitless through 5 2/3 innings before Kristy Olsen broke up the no-hit bid with a two-out infield single. Ashley Killeen followed with a single and both players advanced on a wild pitch. Hoppock recovered to get Katie Reichling out, ending the threat with runners on second and third.
Pitcher Alyssa Ransom (12-16) kept the Cyclones in the game, allowing just a pair of run scoring hits by Totte in the third and fifth frames.
Totte's double to right center in the third scored Shanel Scott, who had reached on an infield single with one-out.
Totte delivered again in the fifth with a single up the middle that plated Lacy Darity and put the Cowgirls on top 2-0.
The Cyclones were unable to get on the board despite a one-out double by Jennifer Bigbee in the top half of the seventh inning.
Hoppock struck out 12 Cyclone batters to get the win.
