Reichling's third inning solo homer off UC Riverside starter Christin Songer added to the lead and proved to be the winning run as Amie Ford and Charissa Carlin teamed up to limit the Highlanders to just two runs on four hits. Carlin (5-4) picked up the win in relief, striking out six in 3.2 innings of work.
The Highlanders got two back in the fourth on Marissa Alvidrez's two-run homer, but the Cyclones responded with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the win.
Jessica Quade's sixth inning pinch hit single scored pinch runner Kelsey Kidwell and two runs came across on a UC Riverside (12-14) error in the final frame.
