TULSA, Okla. ? Jessica Quade blasted a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to lift Iowa State past North Texas, 4-2, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic.
With the teams tied at 2-2 since the second inning, Quade lifted a two-run homer to dead centerfield off
Amie Ford (2-4) sent the Mean Green down in order to pick up the win. Ford allowed no hits in five innings of relief.
The Cyclones got on the board in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Quade and a double from Alex Johnson. Johnson's double plated Kristy Olsen, who reached on an error to start the inning. Quade's sac fly scored Courtney Wray, who singled in her at bat.
After relieving starter Charissa Carlin, Ford pitched the Cyclones out of a jam in the
Quade finished the game 1-for-3 with three runs driven in while Alex Johnson had the other run batted in for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will play their first mid-week doubleheader as they travel to UMKC Tuesday. The first game is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
