DENTON, Texas ? Rachel Zabriskie tossed a shutout and Alex Johnson connected on her second home run of the season as Iowa State held on to defeat Wichita State, 1-0, Saturday night at the Sleep Inn Classic.
With the win Iowa State improves to 12-2. Wichita State drops to 5-7 on the season.

Neither team had much luck against the opposing pitcher but Johnson got the Cyclones on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Johnson blasted Kasha Kolb's delivery over the fence to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.
The Shockers had base runners in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings but Zabriskie was able to keep them from scoring.
In the seventh, Wichita State got the leadoff runner on but Zabriskie was able to strikeout Tiffany Dahlquist for the first out. After a fielder's choice gave ISU the second out, Kiersten Dixon singled to give the Shockers runners at first and second. Zabriskie dialed in and struck out Kara L'Huillier looking to end the game.
Johnson had two of Iowa State's three hits in the game.
Zabriskie (7-1) struck out nine batters while scattering seven hits.
The Cyclones will wrap up tournament play Sunday at 10 a.m. against Butler.
