LAKEWOOD, Calif. ? Long Beach State scored three runs in three different innings to defeat Iowa State, 9-1, in the Cyclones' final game at the Mayfair Tournament. Iowa State (14-6) went just 1-4 in the tournament with the lone win coming against 12th-ranked Fresno State on Saturday evening.
The 49ers (11-7) got a strong pitching performance from Taylor Petty (5-0). Petty allowed just one run on three hits to remain undefeated in 2009.

Long Beach State benefited from a strong performance by the middle of its lineup. The 49ers' three through six hitters finished the day 8-for-13 with nine RBI.
Rachel Zabriskie (7-4) dropped her third-straight decision, allowing nine runs in the loss. Only three of the runs allowed by Zabriskie were earned as ISU committed three errors. The sophomore struck out three 49ers in the game.
Iowa State returns to action next Saturday with a doubleheader at New Mexico. The Cyclones and Lobos will also play a doubleheader Sunday.
