Cal State-Northridge Downs Iowa State, 2-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. ? Cal State-Northridge scored two runs in the third inning and Amanda Pitzenberger and Deborah Duran combined to shutout Iowa State, 2-0, Saturday night at the San Diego Classic.

The Matadors (17-9) got their only runs in the third inning when Jaci Carlsen scored on an error and Karla Chaparro singled to score a run.

The Cyclones (16-12) had three of their five hits in the bottom of the third inning but were unable to get anything across against Pitzenberger, who stranded runners at second and third in the inning.

Rachel Zabriskie (9-8) took the loss for the Cyclones, despite allowing no earned runs and striking out seven in the game.

The Cyclones will wrap up tournament play Sunday at 1:30 p.m. (CT)
