AMES, Iowa - Five Cyclones finished in double figures in Iowa State's 86-76 win over Iowa Friday night in front of a sellout crowd in Hilton Coliseum. For just the second time in school history, the Cyclones beat the Hawkeyes in three consecutive meetings. Iowa State improves to 7-3 overall, while the Hawkeyes drop to 5-5 on the season.
Royce White led the Cyclones with 17 points and was perfect from the field in the first half, hitting seven of seven shots. White started Iowa State off with back-to-back dunks and contributed to the Cyclones' first eight points of the game.
Scott Christopherson posted 10 points in the second half alone and 16 points total. The LaCrosse, Wis., native finished 3-6 from three-point range and now has 147 3-pointers, moving into No. 4 all-time on Iowa State's career 3-pointers made chart.
Cyclone guard Bubu Palo scored a career-high 14 points and dished out a career-high-tying six assists. Melvin Ejim posted 13 points for Iowa State while 6-foot-5-inch guard Chris Babb notched 10 points.
Iowa State forced a six-minute scoring drought for the Hawkeyes in the first period from the 13:30 mark to just over seven minutes remaining.
The Hawkeyes were led by Roy Devyn Marble's 21 points and Melsahn Basabe's 18.
After tonight's victory, Iowa State leads the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series 13-6. The Cyclones need just two more points to clinch the series.
Iowa State plays host to Central Michigan at 1 p.m. (CST) Dec. 18.
