NORMAN, Okla. - Freshman Sara Davison reached base in each of her three plate appearances, walking twice and getting hit by a pitch, but came around to score only once as the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners took the 4-1 win on Sunday. Entering the final week of the season, Iowa State is 21-24 overall and 3-11 in Big 12 play. The Sooners improve to 38-16 on the season and 10-8 in conference play.
The Cyclones got on the board first when Davison touched home on an error by Oklahoma shortstop Javen Henson in the top of the third inning.
Oklahoma wasn't down for long, as a throwing error by Heidi Kidwell on a Keilani Ricketts' single plated Henson, who had entered to run for Jessica Shults. The Sooners chased Iowa State starter Rachel Zabriskie (14-16) from the game after Haley Nix smashed a two-run home run for the 3-1 lead and Dani Dobbs doubled.
Facing Katie Norris, reliever Brianna Holliday allowed the Sooner catcher to single home Dobbs before getting two outs on interference calls and another when Destinee Martinez, who reached on a single, left early from first.
Zabriskie recorded the loss for the Cyclones after pitching three innings and allowing six hits and four runs. Zabriskie walked a batter and fanned two. Holliday finished the final three innings for Iowa State, giving up five hit and no runs while walking one.
Ricketts (25-12) picked up her second win of the weekend, throwing a complete game and giving up 2 hits, one run while walking three and striking out 14.
Iowa State is on the road again on Tuesday night at Nebraska. First pitch between in the Cyclones and Huskers is set for 5 p.m. CDT.
