AMES, Iowa – Kidd Blaskowsky scored a career-high 26 points and Iowa State (8-1, 0-0 Big 12) hit nine of its first 10 shots in the second half, including six of seven from behind the arc, en route to a 83-35 win over Air Force (1-10) Saturday afternoon in the Cyclone Challenge.
The Cyclones, who were just 2-for-16 from long range in the first half, came out of the break on fire. Blaskowsky drained a pair of threes and Christofferson added another on the Cyclones first three possessions of the second half. The Cyclones never looked back shooting 51.6 percent from the field in the final stanza, including 10-of-19 from three-point range.
Both teams came out of the gates slow after the extended holiday layoff, with the Cyclones leading just 4-0 at the first media timeout. Iowa State increased its lead to 15-6 with 9:02 left before going on a 16-0 run and holding the Falcons scoreless for over seven minutes. The Cyclones, led by 13 points from Prins, went into the half with a 37-10 lead.
Nikki Moody dished out eight assists in the win. Moody, who leads the Big 12 averaging 7.4 assists per game, has at least five assists in all eight games she has played this season.
Madeleine Philpot led Air Force with 10 points.
Iowa State faces Alabama State Sunday at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Hornets fell to Penn, 52-37, Saturday afternoon. Penn faces Air Force at 1 p.m. in Sunday's first game.
