AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (14-38, 2-21 Big 12) recognized seniors Lauren Kennewell and Dalyn Varela on Saturday before falling to No. 3 Oklahoma (44-8, 18-5 Big 12), 12-1. Cyclone junior Tori Torrescano hit her 28th career home run in the game, taking sole possession of first place all-time at Iowa State.
Torrescano's 14th bomb of the year sent a 1-1 pitch from Michelle Gascoigne (16-1) over the left field wall in the bottom of the second inning to give Iowa State an early 1-0 edge.
The Big 12 leader in home runs, OU freshman Lauren Chamberlain, knocked her second home run of the weekend over the outfield wall with two outs in the third to tie the score, 1-1.
The Sooners broke open the game in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of three Cyclone errors and home runs by Chamberlain and Javen Henson, to score 11 runs, seven earned, for the 12-1 lead. Brittany Williams and Katie Norris each had RBI singles in the frame.
Kennewell (0-3) started in the circle for Iowa State, throwing three-plus innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on five hits while walking two and fanning three.
Gascoigne picked up the win after three innings of work for Oklahoma, allowing one run on two hits with no walks or strikeouts.
