NORMAN, Okla. – The Iowa State gymnastics team (1-3 overall, 0-1 Big 12) fell to No. 1 Oklahoma (2-0, 1-0 Big 12) by a score of 196.675-193.050 on Friday night in the Cyclones first road competition of the season at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Floor ExerciseHenrietta Green and
Caitlin Brown were the headliners for Iowa State on floor. Green scored a 9.825 to lead the way for the Cyclones, while Brown posted a 9.800. The Cyclones once again showed that the floor exercise will be a strength of this year's squad, as they scored 48.675 in this rotation, their highest of the night.
Uneven BarsThe highlight of the night on bars for the Cyclones was Green's routine. The San Bernardino, Calif. native scored a 9.825 on bars, tying her season-high. Brown and
Megan McDonald were also both steady on bars, as they posted matching scores of 9.775. Iowa State put up a team score of 48.475 on bars.
VaultSophomore
Alex Marasco had the best vault of the night in the lead-off position for Iowa State, with a season-best score of 9.725. While it was the lowest team score of any apparatus, the Cyclones did top their season average of 48.225 by posting a 48.250.
Balance BeamIt was an uncharacteristic off-night on what is usually a strong apparatus for Iowa State. Marasco and
Milan Ivory posted the Cyclones' best scores of the night with matching 9.7's. Iowa State scored 47.650 team points on beam.
