NORMAN, Okla. – The Iowa State gymnastics team (1-3 overall, 0-1 Big 12) fell to No. 1 Oklahoma (2-0, 1-0 Big 12) by a score of 196.675-193.050 on Friday night in the Cyclones first road competition of the season at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Floor Exercise
Henrietta Green and Caitlin Brown were the headliners for Iowa State on floor. Green scored a 9.825 to lead the way for the Cyclones, while Brown posted a 9.800. The Cyclones once again showed that the floor exercise will be a strength of this year's squad, as they scored 48.675 in this rotation, their highest of the night.
Uneven Bars
The highlight of the night on bars for the Cyclones was Green's routine. The San Bernardino, Calif. native scored a 9.825 on bars, tying her season-high. Brown and Megan McDonald were also both steady on bars, as they posted matching scores of 9.775. Iowa State put up a team score of 48.475 on bars.
Vault
Sophomore Alex Marasco had the best vault of the night in the lead-off position for Iowa State, with a season-best score of 9.725. While it was the lowest team score of any apparatus, the Cyclones did top their season average of 48.225 by posting a 48.250.
Balance Beam
It was an uncharacteristic off-night on what is usually a strong apparatus for Iowa State. Marasco and Milan Ivory posted the Cyclones' best scores of the night with matching 9.7's. Iowa State scored 47.650 team points on beam.
