CHICAGO - The Iowa State gymnastics team earned their third and fourth wins of this season Friday at the IGI Chicago Style Meet at Navy Pier in Chicago. Coming off a home win against Centenary, the Cyclones earned a score of 194.950 to defeat Northern Illinois and Yale, who received scores of 194.475 and 190.750, respectively. Caitlin Brown took first place in the all-around, beam, and uneven bars, and the team earned their highest score of the season on floor to help bring in the win for Iowa State.
Floor Exercise
Kelsey Paz and Hilary Green both recorded career highs to help bring the Cyclones a season high 49.000 on floor. The two freshmen led the team on the event along with Haylee Young who scored a 9.850. Green received a 9.825 for her routine and Paz earned a 9.800.
Balance Beam
Caitlin Brown finished the second rotation strong for the Cyclones with a 9.875 on beam, the best score of the night. Alex Marasco scored the second highest on the event with a 9.825. Haylee Young contributed a 9.800 to help bring the team score to 48.975 on balance beam.
Vault
The Cyclones earned a team score of 48.700 on vault, with Haylee Young bringing in the highest score on the event of the night with a 9.825. Caitlin Brown came in with the next best score for Iowa State with 9.775, and Briana Ledesma followed her with 9.725.
Uneven Bars
Iowa State started the meet with a 48.275 team score on uneven bars. Caitlin Brown led the team on the event with a score of 9.850, which earned her first place at the meet. Hilary Green gave another impressive performance on bars, earning herself a 9.800 less than a week after scoring a career high 9.900 against Centenary.
All-Around
Caitlin Brown finished first in the all-around with a score of 39.275. Haylee Young followed close behind her to take second with 39.200.
Coming Up
The Cyclones will return home to face Minnesota at Hilton Coliseum next Friday. The meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Cyclones.tv.
