AMES, Iowa – Jeremy Sudbury has been named the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Midwest Region Coach of the Year, announced Tuesday. The award comes after Sudbury's men's squad posted a runner-up finish at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Sudbury, in his fourth year as director after eight as an assistant coach, led the men to second place coming just 13 points shy of the national title after entering nationals ranked at No. 4. Four men earned All-America honors, the most since 1994. In Sudbury's first year as director in 2021, the men also claimed second at NCAA Championships. The Iowa State men now total 10 top-five NCAA finishes, with six of them being first or second.

The Iowa State men also finished runner-up at the Midwest Regional Championships, Wisconsin Pre-Nationals and at the Nuttycombe Invite earlier this season.
This is the second regional award of Sudbury's career, as he also won in 2021. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the NCAA Championships. Iowa State now turns its focus to the indoor track and field season beginning Dec. 7 with the BU Season Opener.
