AMES, Iowa – No. 14 Iowa State opened play at Hilton Coliseum with an exhibition victory of 84-53 over UW-Oshkosh Tuesday night to begin the 2025-26 slate.
The Cyclones posted the wire-to-wire win led by the duo of Audi Crooks with 24 points and Addy Brown with 17. Crooks also led with seven rebounds.
Jada Williams played her first game as a Cyclone, leading all with seven assists while adding eight points. Fellow newcomer Reese Beaty marked her night with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting, five assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
How it Happened
Iowa State took the first six points before UW-Oshkosh got on the board with a free throw. At the midway point of the first quarter, the Cyclones had built a 10-point lead of 14-4. At the end of one, ISU held the advantage of 21-12 led by Crooks with 10.
UW-Oshkosh hit its fourth 3-pointer as the second quarter began to put the scoreboard at 23-15, while two Crooks free throws followed to again stretch the lead to double digits. Brown joined Crooks in double figure scoring on a layup with just over eight minutes remaining in the half, while Sydney Harris sunk the Cyclones' first 3 of the night next to make it 30-15. Entering halftime, Iowa State led 49-28.
The Cyclones had back-to-back deep shots by Brown and Kenzie Hare as the second half kicked off. With 3:26 remaining in the third, freshman Beaty muscled in a layup as she was fouled and proceeded to make her free throw, putting Iowa State up 66-34.
Going into the final frame, Iowa State led by 28 (71-43). Beaty scored two-straight layups as the Cyclones advantage stretched to 30-plus at 75-43 with 8:34 to go. Iowa State would go on to win it 84-53.
