AMES, Iowa – No. 10 Iowa State (12-0, 0-0 Big 12) sealed the season in-state sweep with the 81-53 victory over UNI (4-6, 0-1 MVC) Sunday afternoon to close non-conference. ISU sweeps Drake, Iowa and UNI for the first time since 2021-22.
Iowa State took over the lead midway through the first and did not look back, going on to post the 28-point victory. The Cyclones shot 12 3-pointers, the fifth game this season shooting 10 or more.
Addy Brown led all with a season-high 28, and matched the game lead with 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and 23rd of career. Alisa Williams (11) and Jada Williams (10) also scored in double figures, while Jada Williams led the game with eight assists.
How it Happened
UNI took the first four points before Brown hit a 3 to put ISU on the board. As UNI remained with the lead at 6-3, Kenzie Hare fired off another triple, causing an early timeout by the visitors. Iowa State went on to take its first lead of 11-10 with the clock at 5:49 as Brown put in the bucket, while Brown delivered her second deep shot right after to enter double figures. The Cyclones held the lead from there, going up 20-15 after one played.
With the Panthers within two (22-20), Jada Williams drove in a layup as she was fouled and went on to make her layup. That and-one sparked a run of 11, increasing UNI's deficit to 13 with 5:18 left to play in the second quarter. ISU kept it rolling as Arianna Jackson and Brown went back-to-back with triples as just over two minutes remained, but Brown was not done there sending in her fourth 3 to beat the buzzer. The Cyclones led 48-26 at the half.
ISU kept its scoring run from the second alive as the third began, stretching it to 17-0 as Williams picked up where Brown left off netting a beyond-the-arc shot while Hare knocked down her third triple on the Cyclones next trip down the court. Jackson then put in the Cyclones' 10th triple with 7:50 on the clock, bringing the lead to 57-30. Iowa State would head to the final frame ahead by 29.
Iowa State crossed over 70 points two minutes into the fourth as Brown capped her night making two from the charity stripe (71-38), and the Cyclones continued on sealing the victory with the scoreboard at 81-53.
