Cyclones Place Sixth at Big 12 Championship

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah. - Iowa State (8-16, 1-5 Big 12) placed sixth in the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. Utah scored a 197.775, Denver a 196.400, Arizona scored a 196.675, ASU scored a 195.975, BYU scored a 196.275 and West Virginia a 194.875.Â
The Cyclones competed at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday in Utah against Arizona, Utah, Arizona State, BYU, West Virginia and Denver. The championship was split into two sessions, an afternoon and an evening. Iowa State competed in the afternoon session in a tri-meet against BYU and West Virginia. Â
ISU had several great performances. Frederique Sgarbossa earned a new career high score on beam with a 9.875. Haylee Hardin and Noelle Adams each earned 9.85 on floor. Kaia Bochow was a leader on bars with a score of 9.800. Â
"I can't say enough about how proud I am of the way this team represented Iowa State at the Big 12 Championship today," said Head Coach Ashley Miles Grieg. "We knew going into this today that our regional spot was no longer our focus, but this team came in here today knowing that this was our championship. We wanted to put on a good show and a good performance, and I think we did that."Â Â Â Â Â Â
Vault (48.800) 
This evening, Paige Wills was the leader in West Valley City for the Cyclones on vault with a score of 9.825. Right behind her was Haylee Hardin, Noelle Adams and Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa who all earned 9.750.

Bars (48.825) 
Bars were led by Kaia Bochow and Frederique Sgarbossa who each put up scores of 9.800. Senior Emma Ricks was following close behind with a 9.775. Paige Wills also earned a 9.750.

Beam (49.100)  
Sgarbossa was the standout on beam tonight, as well as bars. She earned a 9.875 this evening for the Cyclones. Lauren O'Brochta was another strong standout with a 9.825, which ties her season high score. Sgarbossa's score not only was the high score on beam for Iowa State tonight, but also her new career high.

Haylee Hardin and Noelle Adams continue to be strong leaders for Iowa State on floor once again this week. They each scored 9.850 for the Cyclones. Ella Schell was another strong leader on floor, she earned a 9.825. Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa was following close behind with a 9.800.
