Cyclones Tied for Third at the Bell Bank Collegiate After a Strong Second Round

LITCHFIELD PARK, Arizona - A strong second round propels the Cyclones to a tie for third place with Denver after two rounds of the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate. Iowa State carded a 569 (-7) today, which included a ten under-par second round, the second lowest round out of any team on the day. The Cyclones are tied for the third most birdies through the first two rounds with 36.

Zach May is inside the top ten, sitting in a tie for eighth at four under-par. May shot a 68 in the second round and tallied a team-high eight birdies. Paul Beauvy jumped 34 spots from the first round to tie for twelfth, sitting two under-par after also shooting a 68 in the second round. Beauvy carded seven birdies through his first two rounds.

Both Luke Gutschewski and Owen Sawyer are tied for 22nd, currently sitting even-par. Gutschewski carded his first eagle of the year in the first round, and his fifteenth of his career. The senior shot even-par for both rounds which included seven birdies. Sawyer shot two under-par in his second round and tallied seven birdies on the day.

Dianchao Wu is tied for 41st after carding a 73-74 (+3) through his first two rounds, while carding seven birdies today. Luke Metcalf played as an individual today, where he is tied for 26th after shooting one over-par. Metcalf carded seven birdies in the first two rounds.

#49 ranked Marquette has the lead through two rounds, separating themselves from the rest of the field with a fourteen stroke lead over second place Nebraska. There is a five-way tie for first place on the individual leaderboard, including two players from Marquette and two players from Denver shooting seven under-par through two rounds.

The third and final round will be played tomorrow morning, with tee times starting at 9 a.m. CT.
