Luke Gutschewski and the Cyclones in First Place at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic

MARICOPA, Arizona - Luke Gutschewski and the Cyclones are both currently in the lead at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, where play has been suspended due to darkness. Teams will wrap up the second round tomorrow morning with around 2-3 holes left to play before the final round of the tournament will take place immediately after. Gutschewski, who came in third place at last year's tournament, carded a season-low 64 (-8) in the first round, tying the third-lowest round in ISU history. Iowa State had a very strong first round, tying the second-lowest round of the year with a 271 (-17). The Cyclones have been able to keep #27 Long Beach State at arm's length, where they hold a two stroke lead.

Gutschewski is sitting at eleven under-par at the end of the first day. The man who is celebrating his birthday today has carded eleven birdies through his first 32 holes of play, the most in the field while not carding a single bogey. Zach May continues his hot streak, as he is currently tied for eighth (-5), which includes a 69 in the first round for his third consecutive round in the 60's. May has nine birdies at the end of the first day.

Paul Beauvy is tied for tenth (-4), after carding a 68 in the first round. Beauvy has totaled seven birdies so far. Owen Sawyer is inside the Top-20, currently tied for seventeenth at three under-par. Sawyer has seven birdies and one eagle with three holes left to play in the second round. Dianchao Wu is tied for 65th, where he shot a 71 in the first round and has three birdies.

Iowa State has the lowest Par 4 average by a large margin with a score of 3.81. The Cyclones also have the third most birdies in the field so far with 37.

The second round will conclude tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. CT before the final round will take place.
