PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Iowa State senior Curtis Jones put on a show over the weekend at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, helping his Jani-King squad to the tournament championship and being named to the PIT All-Tournament Team in the process.
Jones went 15-of-28 (.535) from the field, including 11-of-20 (.550) from 3-point range. He was also a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. He averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game over the three games.Â
In the opener against Mike Duman, Inc., Jani-King won 111-79. In typical Jones fashion, he came off the bench and went 3-of-6 from 3-point range, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a steal in 22 minutes of action.Â
Jones was named Game MVP of his second game, an 82-80 victory for Jani-King over Portsmouth Sports Club. Earning his first start, Jones went 10-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range in the victory. He finished with 28 points and three rebounds.
In the championship game, Jones scored eight points in the 98-92 victory over K&D Rounds Landscaping. He also added three rebounds and three assists.Â
