Blount, Schmidt Selected for Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch

SAN ANTONIO, Texas –Iowa State assistant coaches JR Blount and Nate Schmidt have been selected for the Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch, presented by Silver Waves Media.

Over 75 coaches have distinguished themselves in the basketball space and are potential NCAA Division I head coaches and have been named to the select group. Over 50 athletic directors, 50 associate athletic directors and seven search firms will be present at the luncheon at the Final Four in San Antonio. Last year, 10 of the 50 coaches selected to attend became Division I head coaches.

Both Blount and Schmidt have been on staff with the Cyclones all four years with T.J. Otzelberger. The Cyclones own a 95-45 record the last four years, including a 53-13 non-conference record. The 95 wins over the four years are the fourth-most in a four-year span in program history. ISU has been to four NCAA Tournaments, including a pair of Sweet 16 appearances and a 2024 Big 12 Championship, with Blount and Schmidt on staff.
