AMES, Iowa – Iowa State rising senior Pammy Chookaew has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Recognized as one of the top awards for student-athletes, the CSC Academic All-District Teams are awarded for combined performances in competition and in the classroom. Nominees must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically or athletically and have participated in at least 70 percent of the team competitions throughout the year.
CSC Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Chookaew was selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. The CSC Academic All-America Team will be announced on July 8.
Chookaew put together her best season yet for the Cyclones in her junior campaign, putting together a 72.54 stroke average, the fifth-best in program history. Chookaew joins Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (2022-23 and 2023-24) and Liyana Durisic (2022-23 and 2023-24) as the only Cyclones to have multiple seasons with a stroke average of 72.75 or lower, as she also had a 72.74 in 2022-23. She enters her senior season with a 73.41 career stroke average, the third-best in school history behind Chul-Ak-Sorn (72.35) and Durisic (72.78).
She won the Bama Beach Bash for her first collegiate victory, while also picking up Big 12 All-Tournament honors for the second time in her career. Chookaew and Chul-Ak-Sorn both tied for fifth at the Big 12 Championship with a 216, the sixth-lowest conference championship score in school history. Chookaew was one of three Cyclones to tie for eighth at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, while she finished in a tie for 55th place at the NCAA National Championships, the third-best championship finish in school history.
