KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its yearly academic awards on Thursday. Seven Cyclones were named to the NABC Honors Court, while the team earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. The Cyclones were one of four Big 12 schools to have seven or more players receive the award.
Brandton Chatfield, Keshon Gilbert, Conrad Hawley, Nate Heise, Dishon Jackson, Cade Kelderman and Tamin Lipsey all earned the award. Cyclone transfer Eric Mulder also earned the award for Purdue Fort Wayne last season. It is the second-straight year that Hawley has earned the award.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize programs that completed the 2024-25 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
Iowa State tallied a 3.28 GPA for the year, including a 3.34 in the fall semester and a 3.24 in the spring semester. The fall semester GPA was the highest on record for the men's basketball program. The Cyclones have had a team GPA over 3.0 for five-straight semesters and six of the eight semesters under T.J. Otzelberger.
