AMES, Iowa – It's back!
One of the most cherished traditions in Iowa State Athletics history is set to return for the 2025 season as a reimagined Cyclone Helmet Cart, powered by Iowa Farm Bureau, makes its Jack Trice Stadium debut on Saturday, August 30th when 21st-ranked Iowa State kicks off its home football schedule with a 2:30 p.m. nationally-televised game against South Dakota on FOX.
The process of constructing the new helmet cart comes thanks to the support of Iowa Farm Bureau. A proud partner and supporter of Iowa State Athletics, Iowa Farm Bureau jumped at the opportunity to participate in restoring the tradition to Cyclone Football game days.
"We are excited to unveil our new helmet cart this weekend against South Dakota and restoring this tradition to Cyclone Football game days this fall," said ISU Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard. "We are grateful for the generous support of Iowa Farm Bureau as well as the hard work and dedication of all of Iowa's farmers in helping to feed the World."
The helmet cart had been a staple at Cyclone football games in the 1980s before being retired in the mid-1990s.
"The return of the ISU Helmet Cart, now proudly bearing the Farm Strong legacy, is more than a nod to nostalgia—it's a tribute to the enduring spirit of Iowa's farmers and the values we share with Iowa State University. Hard work, determination, and that unstoppable 'get-up-and-go' attitude have always driven our agricultural community forward. Iowa Farm Bureau is honored to sponsor this iconic symbol and celebrate the deep roots between Iowa farming and Cyclone pride", said Dana Ardary, Senior Marketing Manager for Iowa Farm Bureau.
About Iowa State Athletics
A founding member of the Big 12 Conference, Iowa State University supports more than 400 student-athletes competing in 18 sports, seven men's and 11 women's teams, at the varsity level. The Cyclones have won 19 team national championships, 140 individual national crowns, and 162 conference team titles. ISU student-athletes also thrive in the classroom, having established a school-record Graduation Success Rate Score (GSR) for 10-straight years, as its 2024 mark equaled the school-record of the previous two years and its most-recent multi-year 990 institutional Academic Progress Rate (APR) was also a school-record. Iowa State's 92 percent GSR for its male student-athletes was a school record, ranked second in the Big 12 and improved for the 10th-straight year, while its female student-athletes GSR of 98 percent tied for third in the conference, matched the second-highest score in department history and marked the 19th-straight year it topped 90 percent.
