Alberto Vilar Earns Spot In Qualifying Draw

Cary, N.C. – Mari Paz Alberto Vilar earned a spot in the ITA All-American Championships singles qualifying draw Sunday, after winning her second and third round pre-qualifying matches. Julia Camblor and Ashlee Narker picked up wins to close the weekend for the Cyclones as well.

Alberto Vilar opened the day with a second-round victory over Virginia's Martina Genis Salas, 7-5, 7-5. Narker followed close behind with a win of her own over Grand Canyon's Karina Hofbauer, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Stanislava Shulzheko fell in her second-round match against Raquel Caballero Chica from TCU.

Alberto Vilar then earned her spot in the qualifying draw by taking down Texas Tech's Mariia Hlahola, 6-4, 6-3. Narker would retire in the third round due to injury. After falling yesterday, Julia Camblor would finish her tournament strong by downing Kaila Barksdale from Utah, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Alberto Vilar will face Divna Ratkovic from Rice on Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the round of 64.
