Ames, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team fell short in its two Main Draw matches at the ITA Central Regional in Norman, Oklahoma on Sunday, bringing an end to its tournament.
Stanislava Shulzhenko and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar opened the day with their doubles semifinal match against No. 27 Chloe Noel and Gloriana Nahum from Arkansas, where they would taste defeat after winning the first set.
Ashlee Narker took on the Razorbacks' Carolina Gomez Alonso in her singles quarterfinal but would also come up short after taking the first set.
Three other Cyclones competed in consolation singles matches Sunday, with Julia Camblor picking up the lone win of the day for ISU. Camblor defeated Kansas' Yerkezhan Arystanbekova, 7-6, 6-0. Gabriella Kellner and Suzanie Pretorius each fell in their respective consolation matches.
The team will be back in action Nov. 7 at the Baylor Invite.
