Cyclones Finish Top 10 at Loaded Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

LOXLEY, Ala. – The Cyclones had a strong last day, jumping two spots in the standings to finish ninth in a loaded field. The final round score of 280 (-8) by the Cyclones is their best round of the season. They finished the tournament in ninth place at -11 (282-291-280=853)

Senior Jackson McCommon used his strong first day to help him to his first Top 25 finish of the season and his sixth career. McCommon shot a 73 (+1) and tallying four birdies en route to tying for 22^nd place.

Senior Owen Sawyer shot the best round of the season, carding a 67 (-5) with his first eagle of the season (10^th career). Sawyer had four birdies and two bogeys on the front nine before locking in on the back nine, shooting an eagle and a birdie with six straight pars to finish the day. Sawyer's strong final round propelled him into the Top 30, tying for 28^th.

Dianchao Wu rebounded on the back nine, stringing together three consecutive birdies and posting a 71 (-1), good for a share of 42nd place.

Junior Drew Hensen had the highlight of the day, tallying his first career ace and second career eagle on Hole 17. Hensen had a great final round, finishing with his second 69 (-3) of the tournament helping him to tie for 54^th.

Freshman Ben Wheeler shot a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish tied for 64^th.

Sophomore Jesse Trembath (Ind.) tallied three birdies in the final round to score a 73 (+1), tying for 51^st place.

#3 Auburn put on a show, finishing at -42 (269-272-281=822), twostrokes ahead of #13 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech's Albert Hansson won the individual title at 20 under-par.

The Cyclones have now wrapped up the 2026 fall season and will return to kick-off the 2027 spring season in Tucson, Arizona for the N.I.T. on February 1-2, 2027.
