IRVING, Texas - For the second time this year, an Iowa State women's golfer has been honored by the Big 12. Following her first career victory, sophomore Nichakorn Pinprayoon has been named the Big 12 Golfer of the Week.Â
The sophomore from Lopburi, Thailand, captured her first career individual title, earning medalist honors in a field of 81 individual competitors. Pinprayoon posted rounds of 69-71-70 to finish at 6-under-par (210) and had an average of 70 strokes per round. She recorded three rounds under par and separated herself from the field with consistent, well-rounded play, including a bogey free final round.Â
Pinprayoon totaled 10 birdies throughout the 54-hole event, highlighting her all-around efficiency. Her clean performance helped lead the Cyclones to a first-place team finish at the Texas Golf Throwdown, as Iowa State held a 39-stroke lead over Nebraska for the title.Â
This marks Pinprayoon's first career victory and first Big 12 Golfer of the Week honor, highlighting an impressive moment in just her sophomore year.Â
Senior Pammy Chookaew was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month in September.Â
Iowa State returns to action Feb. 23-24 at The Chevron Collegiate in Houston, Texas.
