Lipsey Named to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late Season Watch List

ATLANTA, Ga. - Iowa State point guard Tamin Lipsey has been named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late Season Watch List. Lipsey is among four players from the Big 12 named to the 15-member list, the most of any league in the country.
He was a semifinalist for the award last season and one of four finalists for the award in 2024.
Lipsey is averaging 13.0 points, 5.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game this year, the only player in the country to average those numbers this season. He also ranks seventh in the nation, and leads the Big 12, in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.79.
Over the course of his career, he has averaged 10.7 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. He is one of just six players since 1947-48 to average those numbers while playing at least 125 games.
Lipsey is Iowa State's all-time steals leader with 291, while ranking third all-time in Big 12 history.
