AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (2-5, 0-1 Big 12) fell at home to No. 74 Colorado (9-2, 1-0 Big 12) in its conference opener Friday evening by a score of 4-0.
In doubles, all three courts saw 4-0 leads out of the gate, with the Buffaloes holding the advantages on Courts 1 and 2 and the Cyclones on Court 3. The Cyclones were unable to overcome the deficits on 1 and 2, and fell 6-1 in both matches. Ashlee Narker and Valeska San Martin Ramirez held a 5-2 lead on Court 3 when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles, Narker was the lone Cyclone to take the first set, but the team showed fight, forcing three third sets and a tiebreak in the second set before ultimately falling, 4-0. Both Narker and Valentina Vargas had leads when the match was called.
The Cyclones will be back in action at home on Sunday against No. 23 Texas Tech.
