Cyclones Wrap Jim Duncan Invite With Nine Wins

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Cyclones secured nine victories at the Jim Duncan Invite hosted by Drake Friday.

The women's 1,500m runners posted strong season openers in the invite section, with Maelle Porcher leading the Cyclones to second coming a second off her PR with 4:19.74. Bella Heikes, Riley Beach and Josie Baker took fifth through seventh competing with runners from Minnesota Distance Elite.

Freshman Emma Havighurst took the 100m hurdles win in her first outdoor collegiate race with a time of 14.05. Alec Carr gave the men the 110m hurdles win with an all-time best 13.74, moving him up from No. 7 to T-No. 3 in Iowa State history. Daylin Williams took second in 13.85 and Grayson Hartman had a PR of 14.15.

In 400m hurdles, Aidan Jacobsen came just off his PR with 52.95 to win the event.

The wins kept coming as Karynne David had a 400m season-best 55.41 for the win, while Brooklyn Sandvig and Cameron Moon also clocked season bests.

Ava Cinnamo took the triple jump victory with a wind-aided 39-11 1/2w (12.18m), a season best. Tyson Seeser tallied another field event victory with a high jump clearance of 6-8 3/4 (2.05m) also a season best. Multi-eventer Tristan Rheingans tied his all-time pole vault best with 14-1 1/4 (4.30m) for another win.

The long jump closed field events, with Sydney Willits taking first for the women with 19-9 1/2w (6.03m). ISU swept the event with Amari Laing taking second and Ava Cinnamo in third. Justin Gleason sealed the long jump sweep with 23-5 1/4w (7.14m) to win for the men.

Iowa State next travels to California for the Bryan Clay Invite and Mt. SAC Relays April 16-18.
